Michela Talin
Ciao e benvenuti! I am Michela.
It’s nice to have you here at Italian Inside!
As you can guess from my name, I am Italian. I come from a small lovely city in the North of Italy, called Vicenza. It’s a small town between Venice and the Lake Garda, known as the great Palladian city (from the famous 16th-century architect, Andrea Palladio), renowned for its splendid architecture.
I am very passionate about languages and I speak English, French and Spanish, other than Italian. I got my Master Degree in Modern Languages at Padua University in 1999 and I’ve been a teacher since then. I got a Post graduate course in Teaching Italian as a second language and then I qualified to teach in high schools. More recently I also got the Cedils, that is an internationally recognised certificate to teach Italian to foreigners.
After working in Italian high schools and in adult courses, I moved to Scotland with my family in 2014. Here I worked as an Italian teacher and also as a Modern languages teacher in high schools.
I am also honoured to be teaching for two very prestigious institutions: the University of Edinburgh and the Italian Cultural Institute.
Besides being a teacher, I also got the chance to do something different in the past. I was a tour guide in Italy for my town Vicenza and I was also a tour guide at the Kelpies and the Helix park in Falkirk. I worked as a translator and I translated a lot of cookbooks in Italian. One of my other passions is cooking and baking (and eating of course!). When my husband had a restaurant, I made the cakes and desserts for the venue. It was an amazing experience!
Now that you know something about me, I can’t wait to know you and I hope to see you in one of my classes!
See you soon, a presto!
Michela
